We're looking for a Highways Design Manager to join our Transportation team to work in the Highways Team for KDS to support the Divisional Lead. You'll be based in Birmingham. Location: Birmingham - some remote working available, with travel to the office required

What will you be responsible for?
As a Design Manager, you'll be a key member of the KDS Highways Management Team, serving as the focal point for highways delivery from our Birmingham office. You will manage teams of Engineers (at various levels) and Technicians to deliver design packages that meet the client's brief within the allocated time and budget.
Your day to day will include:
- Managing services for highways schemes which may include (but are not limited to); scheme investigation, site inspections, data collection and analysis, feasibility and options studies, preliminary and detailed design, preparation of tender documents, works/construction inspection and supervision to progress scheme design, development and construction
- Acting as Technical Lead/Lead Designer on work undertaken by the team and ensuring high quality of work is produced by the team. Assist Team Leaders in identifying and applying appropriate methodologies and standards to produce effective and innovative solutions for schemes and studies to current standards
- Managing the Value Management / Engineering ensuring that schemes are delivered with innovation
- Supporting the Divisional Lead and Senior Leadership Team in liaison with Clients, delivery of portfolio of projects, managing teams and work winning
- Ensuring that delivery is achieved in accordance with the company's management systems including Health and Safety, project and risk management and IMS
What are we looking for?
This role of Highways Design Manager is great if you have:
- A degree/HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent with appropriate experience to be able to undertake the role
- Good working knowledge of H&S procedures and CDM Regulations
- Demonstrable broad in-depth experience in inspection, assessment, design and construction of highway schemes to DMRB and other Standards
